Best Ideas for Accent Chairs to Add Style to your Interiors

The less visible aspects of your home’s aesthetic are typically the ones that have the most significant influence.

One thing to consider is the illustration of the lines. This refers to the small details you might overlook but can effectively transform your design and change the appearance of the space as you desire, be it narrower or more spacious. It may also be the very thing that attracts people’s attention. This is why, when it comes to choosing your accent chair, you need to take note of the lines in the room.

When introducing new furnishings like an accent chair, think about how their lines can impact the overall design. To that end, this is how we at Yorkshire Fabric Shop work on the linework for our interiors. You can shop for designer chairs here!

Working with Straight Lines

When we refer to straight lines, this includes both the horizontal and vertical.

Horizontal Lines for Stability, Direction and Emphasis

Since the former will create the illusion of more room, it’s safer to use it in places where you want to make them appear broader or larger.  If you look closely, you’ll find that narrow living areas often have horizontally mounted beams in the ceiling to give the appearance of more space.

Straight lines on your accent chair provide a soothing effect in addition to the illusion of space. As a result, it’s a brilliant idea to utilize them in bedrooms. Striped paints on your accent chair upholstery may represent an excellent example of this design approach.

That said, these horizontal lines can be used to guide the viewer to a specific focal point. Although they appear to build length and reduce the room’s visual ceiling height, they can prove effective on an accent chair or an upholstered seat.

Vertical Lines for Strength, Height and Balance

On the other hand, vertical lines, entice the viewer to look upward. Using vertical stripes if you have exciting decor details below the natural sightlines can be aesthetically pleasing.

We can achieve these with an accent chair and seating with vertical detailing.  As most interior designers point out, long, narrow vertical lines are an excellent detail choice for armchairs.

Moreover, vertical lines also tend to stretch further from our line of sight. As a result, the length of a vertically applied line often extends, giving the impression of height in a vacuum.

Diagonal Lines for Dynamism, Movement and Freedom

Diagonal lines may have the capacity to move the eye in any direction, directing the eye’s gaze up or down, expanding the area visually, and adding depth to the place.

While incorrect application of the rules of design can lead to causing visual confusion and visual imbalance, certain rules should be observed to ensure a harmonious and elegant design.

Curved Lines for Softness, Contrast and Flow.

Compared to straight and angular lines, accent chair seating with curved lines has softness and balance. If your ceilings have horizontal beams and your walls have diagonal stripes, round chairs or coffee tables can provide a nice contrast. Because of their softness, circular lines are synonymous with femininity. If you want to make a gender-neutral space, use a variety of circular tubes.

Flowing lines are another form of curved line that traces gently in a spiral direction. This is most noticeable on some homes’ stairwells. If your accent chair is already angular, you can use wallpaper patterns to add flowing lines. This design can be used in narrow hallways to add aesthetic appeal and guide the eyes to the end of the room, avoiding the feeling of rigidity in that place.

Remember that these lines are among those little details on your accent chair that may easily make or break the look of your house. When preparing, keep them on the priority list.

Using Indoor Plants for Curve and Flow

Indoor plant decoration improves the comfort, aeration, and luxury of your living room. While most indoor plants are grown for decoration for your accent chair and leisure furniture, research has shown that they have psychological benefits.

Moreover, these indoor plants help to purify the air in our homes. The most popular houseplants are tropical and semi-tropical plants. Before considering having indoor plants, consider and monitor factors such as soil mixture, humidity, sun, potting, and pest control.
